SERAWA Alicante Hotel

works /
2019

SERAWA Hotels opens its first hotel in the historic centre of Alicante, designed by GGarchitects. The challenge for the architecture studio was to transform a 1900 building, which use most recently used for offices, into a sustainable hotel with a clear Mediterranean essence. The new hotel respects the original identity of the building while including new transit zones, materials and decorative elements to provide a cosmopolitan and avant-garde aesthetic.

On the three upper floors, 21 rooms are distributed across wide corridors in which the original stone walls coexist with vertical panels of the hydraulic mosaic used in the flooring. As a differentiating feature of each floor, there are different chromatic shades in the tile designs that break uniformity. The abundant indirect light and the white carpentry stand out at the entrance to spacious and peaceful rooms in which Mediterranean light, natural materials in custom-made furniture and organic fabrics predominate.

The abundance of light, the elements of craftsmanship and the use of natural materials create a suggestive and fresh interior design. The hotel is a fusion of spaces: The quietness of the upper floors, where there are up to three types of rooms, all full of personality, are contrasted with the vibrant ground floor. Open to the city, this open area of the hotel brings together the reception, the restaurant - cafeteria, as well as the eco-store and ecowine bar.
